I
don't have any spectrum pads (the type originally used to do Joseph's
Coat), but I love the look of the technique, so I decided to play with
it a bit, and see how I could make it work without it. Here's what I
found:
Supplies:
- Several colours of classic ink for background (pg 163-165, $6.27)
- Glossy White Cardstock (pg 166, $6.97, #102599)
- Classic Basic Black Inkpad (pg 163, $6.27, #101179) (or another colour of dark ink)
- Versamark Inkpad (pg 183, $9.25, #102283)
- Embossing Buddy (pg 187, $5.81, #103083)
- Clear Embossing Powder (
- Heat Tool (pg 187, $34.95, #100005)
- Brayer (pg 185, $14.83, #102395)
- Optional Sponges (pg 185, $4,18, #101610)
- Powder Pal (pg 187, $24.13, #102197)
- (or file folder to catch powder)
Directions:
Using sponges, select your ink colours for the
background. Sponge onto glossy white cardstock in whatever pattern you
want to have show behind the image. Just be sure the entire surface is
covered when you are done. Allow to dry
Rub dry, inked cardstock with your embossing buddy to prepare for embossing.- Stamp your image(s) with Versamark onto inked surface.
Place cardstock into powder pal. Pour clear embossing powder over images, and tap off excess.
Heat using your heat tool, untel the embossing powder melts (no longer looks like powder)
Brayer over all using dark ink (dark enough to cover all colour where it touches). Wipe off excess with a tissue.- Finish your card. :)
Try it this month - if you submit it to me before 31Jan08, you may win this month's 'Try It' prize - an inkpad in your choice of colour!
